Cree - Roman Orthography Keyboard Help

This keyboard is designed for the Cree - Roman Orthography language of the Prairies region of Canada.

If square boxes are displayed instead of characters when using this keyboard (and in the keyboard layouts below), please read our troubleshooting guide.

  • To type the acute accent use the Left-Bracket key [ — á is typed a then Left Bracket [
  • To type the circumflex accent use the Right-Bracket key ] — ê is typed a then Right-Bracket ]
  • To type the macron accent use the Backslash Key \ — ō is typed o then Backslash \
  • To type the caron/hachek accent use the 1 key — š is typed s then 1
  • You can type the original English punctuation by holding down the Right-Alt or Option key. The Semicolon ; is typed Right-Alt+Semicolon (Windows) Option+Semicolon (Mac).

  • keys with a red background are combining accents.
  • the first character in a cell is the "one-tap" key, any further characters are "hold-select" keys.
  • this is the SRO and can accommodate all dialects.
  • depending on the writer, there are three different diacritics to choose from to indicate a long vowel. Each option is included in this keyboard layout.
